Kindness 101 - Growth Mindset

These resources were used to expand my understanding of the concept of a growth mindset, and part of the research I did in creating the Nearpod lesson, "Building a Growth Mindset."

For educators, I hope that this will help with lesson plans when teaching growth mindset.

For parents, this may be an easy way to understand the shift in educational philosophy for many 21st century educators, where failure isn't necessarily looked down upon as long as the effort to learn from mistakes is there.

For the Kindest Generation, these resources can be used to inspire you to learn more. It is far easier for a younger person to cultivate a growth mindset than it is for an adult, many who have lived with a fixed mindset for much of their life. Don't be afraid to try, don't be afraid to fail! #GrowKindess

Khan Academy has been a leader in education in exploring and promoting a growth mindset. Their #YouCanLearnAnything campaign has been as successful as it has been inspiring to millions of students, both young and old alike.

ClassDojo and Stanford's PERTS Research Center teamed up to create the the first season of The Mojo Show. The five-episode video series (which includes activities) highlight the power of having a growth mindset, and how any student can learn this skill! While searching for resources to share with the Kindest Generation, I came across the Train Ugly website. Above, you will find their manifesto, which a picture perfect definition of creating a growth mindset in the 21st century. Their growth mindset hub is an excellent resource for older students, athletes, and coaches.
