Steph Curry - Nothing But Nets
Re-watch this incredible 360 video from our lesson, as Nothing But Nets brings you the powerful virtual reality story of an 11-year-old girl named Amisa, a refugee living in the Nyarugusu Refugee Camp in Tanzania with her mother and six siblings. Struggling to survive each day, and with no protection from mosquitoes that carry malaria at night, you will experience Amisa’s life through her eyes. Hope abounds as her family moves into a new home, gets treatment for malaria, and she and her siblings prepare to start school in the fall – none of which is possible without the life-saving protection of the bed nets that everyday people help to provide.
A shining example of the Kindest Generation is Katherine Commale.
She and her mother began raising money to purchase nets for children in Africa to help fight the spread of malaria at the age of five years old. The video above was filmed in 2010, when she was in fourth grade, three years into her campaign to help fight malaria.
In June 2018, Philly.com published an article, Downingtown girl who raised millions for malaria nets treated as hero in Taiwan, sharing an update on Katherine's amazing and ongoing journey. Throughout her entire school life, while completing homework assignments and studying for tests, she also managed to help Nothing But Nets raise between 2-3 million dollars to help prevent malaria.
She's become a hero to many around the globe, winning the "Hero" award in Taiwan... at the age of 17!
